A son of Lu Kang, he would have become the head of the Lu family as he was more closely related to Lu Kang than Lu Xun was. However, due to being very young when his father died, Lu Xun became the new head of the family instead. Lu Ji was born in 188, several years after Lu Xun’s birth in 183.
Nevertheless, Lu Ji still went on to become a respected individual in Sun Quan’s court, serving as Administrator of Yulin Commandery and being respected as one of the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars. He was also a scholar who gathered with other like minded scholars to discuss how to bring peace to the Han Empire before it fell, giving way to the Three Kingdoms Period.
Lu Ji died rather young in 219 AD when he was just thirty-one and Lu Mao adopted his children and took care of them.
